The Studio
Skin Shaman was founded in 2015 on the belief that meaningful skin results come from working with the skin's biology over time — not against it.
Skin is living and adaptive, shaped by genetics, environment, stress, lifestyle, and age. Rather than treating skin as a fixed type or pursuing trend-driven solutions, care at Skin Shaman responds to how skin behaves over time and how it changes with seasons, recovery, and cumulative input.
Hands-on technique forms the foundation of every treatment, supported by technology only when it serves the skin's structure and capacity to respond. Advanced therapies are introduced selectively, with attention to readiness, sensitivity, and long-term outcomes rather than intensity for its own sake.
The Skin Shaman approach is a defined methodology. Every practitioner at the studio practices it.
The Founder
Tamara Fitzner
Skin Shaman was founded by Tamara Fitzner, a licensed esthetician with nearly thirty years of practice. Her background includes clinical work alongside a plastic surgeon, followed by five-star hospitality environments including The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island and Aster Spa at The Dunlin. This informs the hybrid approach at Skin Shaman: clinical efficacy held within an immersive spa environment.
Her training includes advanced certification through Louise Walsh International and Neurotris, with nearly three decades of experience across clinical and luxury skincare lines. The studio currently partners with DNA Skin Institute and Cosmedix for their chirally corrected formulations and ingredient integrity.
Tamara's study of music and film — and continued education in sound healing, health mentorship, and classical astrology — reflects an understanding that everything is vibration. Light, sound, and essential oils hold frequency, just as we do. This perspective shapes the sensory environment of every treatment: pacing, stillness, and atmosphere are considered as carefully as product and technique.
Her training through Hippocrates Health Institute allows her to go deeper with clients whose intrinsic factors — nutrition, inflammation, systemic imbalance — may be limiting their skin's potential.

The Approach
Skin does not exist in isolation. It responds to what we eat, how we regulate, how we rest, and how we move. The visible condition of the skin is frequently a reflection of systemic factors — inflammation, hormonal shifts, nutritional gaps, nervous system load.
At Skin Shaman, care is guided by the understanding that meaningful change happens when treatments work with these natural cycles rather than against them. Timing, restraint, and responsiveness matter. The goal is not a single result but a long-term relationship with the skin as it changes across a lifetime.
